"Eastman Plaza" (Only Blue)
Oil on Canvas
16" x 20"
Here you see both the photo I took when I started the day and my finished painting. Yes, I know the building is tan in real life but tan is so boring that I decided to try painting it my colors gone wild method that I have been toying with lately. It was the 4th annual Plein Air Competition sponsored by Walters Cultural Center in Hillsboro. The painters are fun and the event is great! Even though it is a competition everyone makes you feel special.

It was a beautiful day to be painting in the park! Here you see my subject photographed in the morning light a little while before I started painting. Above that you see the same subject, and take note of the shadows, photographed close to the time I finished. On the very top you see the results.

I received my notice today regarding my submission for their Artist-in-Residence program. I'm in a group of 23 now that will be judged and brought down to three finalists. Then those will be interviewed and one approved for the 2010/2011 year. Won't know until sometime late July-early August. :-)
